A Baker’s Dozen Plus One
Meet Scotty: a Win-Win
Scotty Moyer plays hockey. It’s what he does. During the MN Stay At Home order, Scotty did not play hockey. In fact, it was the only three months of his life when he didn’t skate. Rather, he used his considerable muscles to haul woodchips, rocks, and buckthorn in Dunrovin’s forestland.
Q: Your work out here has made a big difference! What would you be doing if we didn’t have a pandemic changing your life?
A: I’d play hockey. I’d be skating. Hanging out with friends.
Q: You graduated from Hill-Murray High School, is that right?
A: Yup, in 2018.
Q: How was school for you?
A: It was a great experience, a great place. They really work to have one main goal which is to be known, loved, and respected. They do a really good job of not just saying it but living it out.
Q: Do you feel a sense of being known, loved, and respected at Dunrovin? Do you think it might have come from a similar source?
A: Yes, absolutely. Dunrovin and Hill Murray are very similar. I would say the biggest factor is how welcoming Dunrovin is and how loved everyone is. They are both great places and both had a big impact on my life.
Q: Last year you did dishes at Dunrovin?
A: Yes! Last year I did a lot of dishes!
Q: I remember when you began [to help in the kitchen] and we were all so glad that “Scotty” was here. For us, playing hockey or working at Dunrovin, Scotty Moyer is a win-win!
