Group retreats are a tried-and-true tool for many different organizations. Refocus a team, rejuvenate employees, or plan a major project; there are tons of benefits to going on retreat.
If you’ve been keeping up with our blog, you already know how worthwhile group retreats are. But did you know that personal retreats can be just as valuable?
Personal retreats are great for relaxing, reflecting, and then returning to daily life with newfound purpose and enthusiasm. Plus, they can be as scheduled or as flexible as you want! You make the rules and reap the rewards with a personal retreat. Because of this fact, it’s a good idea to plan a few activities in advance.
Not sure what to do on your retreat? Here are a few suggestions:
Meditate
Meditation is an ancient yet valuable tool for stress-management and relaxation. If you’re new to the practice, there are plenty of instructions and guided meditations online. If you’re more of a veteran, try to challenge yourself and see how long you can meditate!
Spend time in nature or with pets
Take a walk in the great outdoors, and bring a pet along if you can. Get your endorphin rush and your vitamin D all at the same time!
Journal
Journaling is a great exercise in mindfulness and self-examination. While journaling, write down thoughts, feelings, and observations. Record goals and reflect on them during and after your retreat to stay focused and see tangible results.
Get in touch with your creative side
Love painting but never seem to find the time? Wish you could finally finish that scrapbook you’ve been working on for years? Get back into your favorite hobby while on retreat and reinvigorate your creativity.
Nourish your body and soul
While on retreat, don’t forget to keep your body up to snuff! Eat healthy, nourishing foods and do some light exercise to get the blood pumping. Ensuring that your body is healthy will allow you to nurture your mind even more.
Nap!
Never underestimate the power of sleep. Personal retreats are great opportunities for growth and reflection, but they should also be relaxing. Take the time to recharge and catch up on some much-needed zzz’s.
